The Meaning of Ijaza
Ijaza (إجازة) is a scholarly licence certifying that a student has memorised the Quran and/or mastered Tajwid to a level that qualifies them to teach others. Critically, an Ijaza comes with an unbroken chain of narration (sanad) back to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
