A-Level Year 13: Exam Strategy and Revision
A-Level Year 13 – exam strategy, revision planning and past papers
The Final Year
Year 13 is the culmination of your A-Level journey. With all exams at the end of the year, effective revision planning from September is essential. There are no retakes – you sit all papers in May/June.
Building Your Revision Plan
Map out all exam dates and work backwards – create a week-by-week revision timetable from February
Use active revision: past papers, flashcards, teaching back to yourself
Prioritise weak areas, but don't neglect your strengths
Past Papers Strategy
Past papers are your best revision tool. Do them under timed conditions. Mark them honestly. Analyse mistakes: was it a knowledge gap, a misread question, or a time management error?
Mental Wellbeing
Exam stress is normal but manageable. Build rest and exercise into your schedule. Avoid all-night revision sessions – sleep is when your brain consolidates memory.
